I’ve been the one in charge of nail clipping and this job will soon transfer to all you new puppy people. The regular small clipper (a basic one from the drug store) is still working for the puppies’ nails. I trim them when I can feel the little hook forming at the end of the nail and I trim just that hook off in one clean snip. They all handle it well, likely because I do it when they first fall asleep and they’re so “out of it” that they don’t notice me moving their paws and claws around.
I bought the nail scissors (below) but haven’t needed to use it yet. The basic nail clipper comes in another size bigger and it’s so easy to see where you’re nipping, that I’ll probably stay with that style. But the pet store woman recommended the scissors-style below.
The most important thing is that you keep up on nail trimming. Vet techs do the job well, if you need to go that route, and they do it for a reasonable price. Griffs don’t need to go to the dog groomer so you just need to attend to nails, a little brushing and occasional baths.
